Flora Laney Thornton (November 1, 1913 – May 7, 2010)[1] was the widow of Tex Thornton. She was known for her philanthropic activity in the Los Angeles area, including her support of the USC Thornton School of Music (which was re-named in her honor after she contributed $25 million in 1999),[2] the Keck School of Medicine of USC,[3] Pepperdine University,[4] the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Los Angeles Music Center, and the Los Angeles Opera.[5]
